Winter
During the crispy winter months, the visitors can enjoy, apart from the lively Volos and its attractions, the imposing mountain of Pelion as well — a place of indescribable beauty, and an idyllic destination all year round. About 27 km from the Hotel Nefeli, you will find the Pelion Ski Center, in an altitude of 1471 meters, set up with 5 pistes, of 15 km total length. From the chalet of the ski center, you will enjoy a breathtaking 360-view, marveling over the expanse of the Aegean Sea and the embroidered coastline of the Pagasetic Gulf, while sipping your hot brew or beverage.
Furthermore, Pelion mountain is dotted with many stunning traditional settlements that every visitor should visit — at least some of them. A pristine natural scenery with a marked network of hiking paths enables the visitor to wander through the mountain’s enchanting setting when the weather allows it. Makrynitsa, Portaria, Chania, Milies, Vyzitsa, Zagora, and Tsangarada, are but a few quaint, historical hamlets, boasting unique architecture, picturesque cobblestone alleys, natural springs gushing fresh mountainous water, as well as traditional restaurants and taverns that serve delectable local dishes.
The Pelion Ski Center, as well as the wonderful villages of Pelion, will sweep you off your feet! It is no accident that mountain Pelion, as Greek Mythology has it, was the home of the Centaurs and the summer residence of the Olympian gods.
